milk is white coffee's black and everybody's right pitched battle no prattle only dead quiet i'm preparing for my riot deep inside i know you're right but i prefer to disagree i'm on my knees bowing my head grabbing your feet to make you fall

Narayan 08:28
one evening i sat by the sea and watched the waves rolling onto the beach the water tickled my feet as the tide moved back and forth one small human being in front of the huge ocean home of mackerels and sea-horses the reflections of the stars on the surface reminded me of the lights on an infinite landing strip the waves a carpet of sea swaying like a young mother singing her child to sleep and yet insidious and deadly like a nasty stab in the back the high tide drags and the dark depths gorge abused by mankind but unwilling to give in wrecking ships bashing houses home of mackerels and sea-horses home of the shark beautiful strong proud and vulnerable a beast that breeds creation a fascinating incarnation of boundless self-determination a force beyond our control but then when i looked at the moon i suddenly realised that not even the waves are free

Cubism 07:17
ellyptic squares rectangular circles encrypting the truth has become a new art misinformation is used to discard the fears and the doubts of those who talk too loud knowledge is power arm yourself in the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king and we all have got two eyes the misused cubism of the mass media defending economy against human rights shall no longer keep us down we'll open our eyes and see see to read read to know learn to defy defy to defeat day by day we're told more and more lies new lies to cover up new scandals new lies to defend former lies sometimes it seems that human life is not worth a penny anymore in this modern and civilized brave new world but we have to go on we have to grope forward in the darkness cause at the end of every tunnel there is a light

a thousand enemies have come to ruin our days they may break our knees but we will always find a way to escape from efrafra they may bind our hands separate us from our friends but in our minds we'll stay free pack our bags for the day when we'll escape from efrafra

about

Carefree were a bunch of youngsters (aged 16 to 19 at the time) based in Wormeldange/Medingen, Luxembourg. The band originally formed in late 1998, but only started playing live and rehearsing regularly in February 2000. Since all members were into different types of music, punk rock being the most common denominator in their early days, the sound of Carefree kept changing a lot, as their focus moved from trying to stick to one particular type of genre (Emoskapunk) to simply making music together (Valediction). The band called it quits some 50 odd shows and two studio records later, in September 2002.

Our farewell-EP 'A valediction: forbidding mourning' was recorded and mixed at ASA studios, Gilsdorf, by Arsène Salvestrin in summer 2002. Released in a paper sleeve, 500 copies, sold out.

All music by Carefree, all lyrics by Jeff Hemmer.
Carefree on this record: Michel Thorn, Ben Claus, Max Sauber, Jeff Hemmer.
Arsène Salvestrin played the outro bass parts on tracks 2 and 4 and arranged the drums in the feedback outro.
